Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) about Password Recovery:

FAQ #1:

Q: I don't know you or trust your site with my precious document. What should I do?

A: Don't send your document

FAQ #2:

Q: I have a password-protected document that contains national and/or corporate secrets that could net me $millions from a foreign government and/or competitive corporation. Will you crack it for me?

A: No, do not send your document. If you do, I will delete it immediately.

FAQ #3:

Q: I downloaded this great MS Excel template from the web, but I can't modify it or unlock its full potential because the original author password-protected it and wants to charge me for it. Will you help me get around this pesky obstacle?

A: No, don't send your document.

FAQ #4:

Q: I have a password-protected document that contains national secrets. Will you crack it for me?

A: Don't send your document

FAQ #5:

I am suspicious that you may read my precious document and then post it all over the internet just to spite me. Or worse, you are performing this service in order to collect other people's valuable IPRs (intellectual property rights) and use them for your own intents on world (or other more specific area) domination. Are these your intentions?

A: No. I promise not to use or abuse this service in any malicious manner. Specifically, I promise not to distribute nor allow access to any other person/entity whatsoever (except maybe my wife, because I tell her everything anyway, but she doesn't even care about these sorts of things and she promises not to say or distribute anything also). I DO NOT PROMISE that I would not review the document in order to pass my own judgment as to whether recovering the password would violate any ethical, copyright or government rights or policies. If you still do not have confidence please see FAQ#1.

FAQ #6:

Q: I have just finished writing my Doctoral Thesis in MS Word, which I always password protect because I am paranoid that others are trying to steal my ideas. But, in my absent-mindedness, I forgot what the password is. Can you help me?

A: Yes. Just e-mail me your document with an estimate of:

  • how many characters you think the password has,
  • are there upper & lower-case characters,
  • whether it contains any numbers.
